106 Epidurals and what you need to know even if you are planning an unmedicated birth

All about epidurals! Learn about epidurals (even if you do not plan on getting one).

In this episode I talk about how 80% of pregnant persons report wanting to have an unmedicated birth in the US, yet 60-90% get an epidural (state dependent stats). So, even if an epidural isn't on your birth plan, you need to know about epidurals just in case you have a change of plans. If you are planning on one anyway, this is a quick guide. One thing I forgot to mention in this episode, is that you will need several vials of blood drawn for a full CBC and platelet count before getting an epidural. That usually takes at least an hour for results to return.
