Pro tips for natural induction

Your how-to guide for preparing your body for birth without Pitocin

I called upon my years of experience helping to ripen cervixes and get oxytocin flowing to write an amazing outline on natural induction techniques. It includes my secret sauces collected from all of my favorite doulas and midwives, including a recipe for labor oil.

Ok. You wake up at 39 weeks pregnant and you think you are nearing your "due" date. Better known as a “guess” date. Yes, your baby could come at any time. I don't want to downplay this at all. But, most likely, your baby is not coming this week or next week for that matter. The average gestation for a first-time mom without intervention is 41 weeks and 1 day. Your "due" date is arbitrarily based on the date of your last period (if you even know that) and it is a one size fits all model. Some of us ovulate on day 6, some of us ovulate on day 21. Sometimes that sperm and egg meet up quickly, sometimes that sperm is waiting around for days for our sweet little egg....so you can't even guess based on when you had sex. If you are pregnant from IUI or IVF, the computer still calculates from the date of your last period regardless of transfer date.
